Judy Gray was born for business. As a child, she literally stood on an overturned orange crate to ring in sales on the cash register of the family sporting goods store in North Vancouver. Judy worked after school in retail, maintained inventory, and learned to keep the books. Her parents were careful to instilled the principled belief that the “customer is always right”. But it wasn’t all work! On weekends the family trekked up to Whistler, some of the first pioneers to blaze a trail down the flawless powder. Her early dedication to a strong work ethic, learning the job from the bottom up, and working hard to play hard have shaped Judy Gray’s professional standard of accountability and her personal promise to serve her clients to the highest degree. Judy and her adventuresome spirit crossed Georgia Straight in 1979 to make a home on the wild shores of the Pacific Ocean. It was here that she built the foundation of her legacy.
The Judy Gray name is synonymous with integrity, perseverance, and professionalism. Licensed as a REALTOR® in 1992, Judy then earned her Canadian Real Estate Specialist Certification (CRES), and gained the exclusive title of Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). She has ranked in the Top 10 for RE/MAX in Western Canada, Top 30 for Canada, achieved the Chairman’s Club Award for consecutive years, received the Hall of Fame Award in 2002, and was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. A recent convert to the West Coast lifestyle, Laurie and her husband have been homeowners in the area since 2013 but just made the permanent move to Ucluelet in early 2015. Attracted by the amazing combination of ocean, mountains, wildlife viewing and temperate climate it wasn’t too difficult to follow their hearts and leave winter, traffic and the big city behind in Alberta.
So far in just a few short months, Laurie is a regular at Ladies Golf Night and along with her husband Brent, a former firefighter, have become members of the Historical Society and are looking forward to volunteering with emergency services. They are sure that’s just the beginning of many years of community participation.
Laurie brings to The Judy Gray Team extensive experience in both communications and office/legal administration. She most recently volunteered and then worked at the Calgary Zoo in media and communications for a combined total of 14 years. From 1989 to 2006, Laurie worked for Alberta Justice in a variety of management positions including the Crown Prosecutors’ Office, Court of Queen’s Bench and more than a decade managing Judges’ Chambers in the Criminal Division of Provincial Court.
One of Laurie’s favorite quotes is, “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” Certainly the move to beautiful Ucluelet and area offers many of those breath-taking moments in life that make it both memorable and enjoyable.
