Walking the Wild Pacific Trail

Starfish The Gray Team Ucluelet Real Estate

Ucluelet is known for it's dramatic coastline and temperate rainforest.  This coastline offers some of the most breathtaking coastal scenery on the west coast of Vancouver Island.  These natural wonders are right outside of our doorstep and the best way to experience west coast nature in town is to take a stroll along the Wild Pacific Trail.

The Wild Pacific Trail is broken up into three main sections, with more sections in the plans for the future.  You can walk the 45 minute long Lighthouse Loop and visit the Amphitrite Lighthouse.  The Lighthouse Loop also gives excellent views for Barkley Sound, the Broken Group Islands and potential onshore whale watching.

The Browns Beach section runs from the Big Beach park to the trail head along the Pacific Rim Highway.  This section skirts along the rugged shoreline, tucking in and out of a rainforest twisted and gnarled by west coast weather, and gives access to the Artists Loop.  The Artists Loop is the newest addition to the Wild Pacific Trail and brings walkers right to the edge of the shoreline.  There are many artist perches, benches and viewpoints along the way.

They have already started construction on the newest section of the Wild Pacific Trail.  This section starts just north of the highway trail head.  Although it doesn't go too far yet, this new section will eventually lead to Half Moon Bay in the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
